boiled peanuts + bean planting

Boiled peanuts are supposed to be a southern staple. It says so on the can. However, they taste nothing like dry, roasted peanuts -- they were promptly thrown in the compost bin. Blech.

Also, I planted our beans today in celebration of the first day of May. I soaked them for a few hours first and have found that an ice cube tray makes a great vessel to keep everything organized -- and is especially pretty, to boot. (Top left, green = Lanco edamame; bottom left red = chinese red noodle; red spotted = Jacob's Cattle; tan/white spotted = Snow Cap; purple/black spotted = Scarlet Runner; white = Dean's Purple.)
