Bonnie & Clyde

A few Halloweens ago, Jay and I dressed up as the infamous, bank-robbing duo. Little did we know that it would set a precedent for our future pets' names.

When we named Clyde Dog, it wasn't based on Clyde Barrow because we never imagined that we'd ever have a female dog to assign his legendary cohort's name, Bonnie Parker, to (all our pets since we've been together have been male). We tell people it's because he resembles a horse, or Clydesdale, in terms of sheer size, but secretly, his name is really an ode to Clyde Frog, Eric Cartman's well-loved stuffed animal from South Park; hence, the reason for his official name of Clyde Dog -- people always wonder why we include the "Dog". Now you know.

We spent the day home today to help Bonnie get acclimated to our farm. She doesn't know it yet, but she will be spending a lot of time in the car, so we figured we'd give her this day to settle in and get used to us and our home.

One of our biggest concerns whenever we adopt a shelter animal is whether they will get along with our existing family members. I'm happy to report that while Bonnie is certainly interested in Nekkie, she hasn't exhibited any desire to chase or otherwise hassle him.

Because believe me, Nekkie will fuck some shit up if Bonnie tries anything, so it's really in her best interest to play it safe. That cat has been filling out for winter and is a force to be reckoned with, let me tell ya.

Second only to us, Nekkie is at the top of the totem pole. Then there are our future livestock animals. Then Clyde Dog and Bonnie. Dogs must understand this, and I have no doubt that Bonnie will figure it out because she is just the darnedest sweetheart and is already falling in line with our pack leader focused commands.

Find the beagle mutt. (Clyde Dog is pretty easy to find.)

Her right eye is all wild-like and half blue/brown.

And a wild iris that Jay brought home to me.
Because you're probably tired of looking at Bonnie.

  1. I guess Bonnie is curled up in that pillow next to Clyde? Talk about incognito!

  2. How could we possibly tire of looking at that face?

If I weren't already sick for a puppy these pictures would surely put me over the edge.
